Lose 10 Pounds in a Week

Mar 30 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

Here is 8 steps to follow to lose 10 pounds in a week Find more @ Dietborn.com
Step 1

* Water -

Before every meal drink 16 ounces of water prior to eating. Doing this can help you lose weight, as you will eat less but still be full. This helps to encourage you to get the recommended amount of water daily and lose weight.

  • Step 2

    * Eat Less Calories Then You Burn -

In order to lose weight quickly you need to eat less calories then your body actually burns. One pound of fat equals 3500 calories, so you need to burn more calories each day in order to lose weight. All during the day, even in your sleep your body is burning calories. You can easily burn more calories then you eat by increasing activity and cutting calories in your daily diet. Just by cutting 500 calories a day and increasing exercise you can lose weight quickly. This is the best way to lose weight and remain healthy. So cut out the bad food and increase the good foods.

  • Step 3

    * Increase Fiber -

Eating more fiber each day will help to increase weight loss. Include whole grains, raw vegetables, slightly cooked vegetables, fruits, fiber enriched cereals, whole wheat pasta, beans, etc. In the beginning if you eat to much fiber you may experience bloating, cramps and gas, so do it gradually day by day. Also increase the amount of water you drink as it helps your body to digest the fiber more efficiently.

  • Step 4

    * Stop Eating Sugary Foods -

Just dropping the sugar from your diet can help you lose weight quickly. Make sure that you stay away from it all together if you want to lose weight quickly. This means no sugar in your coffee, on your cereals, or eating that candy bar!

    * Cut the carbs from your diet. Carbohydrates turn into sugar inside our body’s and makes you hold onto body weight and fat. Omitting carbs from your diet can help you drastically drop the unwanted pounds. These days there are many alternatives to diets without carbs that are tasty and nutritious.

    * Increase fiber into your diet.

    * Incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet.

    * Make sure you eat your dairy items. You can choose to have low fat or even fat free milks and yogurt’s.

  • Step 5

    * Watch Your Portion Size -

Many people have no concept of the amount of food that hey should be eating. Here are some helpful tips about portion sizes…
3 ounces of meat, fish, chicken, etc. is about the size of the palm of a woman’s hand or a deck of playing cards.
An ounce of cheese is about the size of your thumb.
A teaspoon of butter is the about the size of your thumb tip.
Learning the correct portions that you should consume can greatly improve your weight lose.

    * Stay Away From Fried Foods -

    * Watch the calories, they count when you are trying to lose weight. Stick to a diet within a certain range of calories consumption ideal for you.

  • Step 6

    * Exercise -

Many of us may feel that we simply do not have the time to incorporate exercise int your busy lifestyle. That is just an excuse! There are many ways to get the exercise that you need. When you are at work take the stairs instead of the elevator, or park a little farther then normal so you walk farther. Instead of going out to the movies where you just sit, do something physical like bowling, golfing, dancing, etc. Every extra bit of exercise helps!

Remember that any diet that promises you a fast and easy way to lose weight without even trying, is a fake! They are relying on the hopeful ones that want to believe there is a miracle cure to lose weight out there to get themselves rich. They are selling you a fantasy and that s the bottom line.

  • Step 7

It takes work and commitment to lose weight and nothing less. Once you start to make these changes to your diet and include exercise you need to be consistent. It will all pay off when you are losing weight the healthy way and your friends and relatives that are still trying all the new so called “breakthroughs” on the market are still struggling.

  • Step 8

You need to focus on the positive changes that you have done and if you slip up once is awhile just know that its O.K. Focus on the positive and not the negative. Remember to reward yourself with a day off every so often to help keep you motivated and determined.

Facebook has threatened to sue Daily Mail over

Mar 11 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

According to the Guardian and Global Dashboard, Facebook has threatened to sue Daily Mail over an article which wrongfully claimed Facebook makes it easy for older sex predators to approach and seduce minors.

Daily Mail’s article, which can (in edited form) be found here, was written by a former police detective Mark Williams-Thomas, and had originally been titled “I posed as a girl of 14 on Facebook. What followed will sicken you.” It contained the account of the author posing as a minor on Facebook, which, according to him, attracted sexual predators right away.

The problem? He wasn’t really using Facebook to conduct the experiment, he used a “different social networking site”, as explained in today’s update to the article, added at the bottom by Daily Mail staff. The full text of the update is as follows:

“In an earlier version of this article, we wrongly stated that the criminologist had conducted an experiment into social networking sites by posing as a 14-year-old girl on Facebook with the result that he quickly attracted sexually motivated messages. In fact he had used a different social networking site for this exercise. We are happy to set the record straight.”

Needless to say, this caused a strong response from Facebook, which is still referenced throughout the article. According to the Guardian, a UK spokeswoman for Facebook said that the company was considering legal action due to the “brand damage that has been done”. “If you were a Middle England reader and your child was on Facebook, this sort of thing would have a very serious effect on what you thought of us,” she said.

Facebook has a point here; besides the obvious erroneous reporting, the article details how someone posing as a 14 year old girl would get messages from older men (more accurately, users whose Facebook profile indicates they’re over 18 years old), which cannot be done on Facebook. Therefore, Facebook can argue it has measures in place to prevent exactly the kind of behaviour the article describes, unlike the unnamed social network the experiment was conducted on.

We’ve contacted Facebook’s UK PR representative on this matter but have yet to hear back.

EGYPT: Amer is jailed for insulting the president and Islam

Mar 03 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

EGYPT Amer is jailed for insulting the president and Islam. (Reuters)

Authorities block only a small number of Web sites, but they monitor Internet activity on a regular basis. Traffic from all Internet service providers passes through the state-run Egypt Telecom. Authorities regularly detain critical bloggers for open-ended periods. Local press freedom groups documented the detention of more than 100 bloggers in 2008 alone. Although most bloggers were released after short periods, some were held for months and many were kept without judicial order. Most detained bloggers report mistreatment, and a number have been tortured.

Lowlight: Blogger Abdel Karim Suleiman, known online as Karim Amer, is serving a four-year prison term on charges of insulting Islam and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Report: New bin Laden tape emerges (CNN.COM)

Jan 24 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

(CNN) — A new audio tape allegedly from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden claims responsibility for an attempt to blow up a plane en route to Michigan on Christmas Day and warns the United States of more attacks.

The tape, which aired on the Arabic-language news Web site Al-Jazeera on Sunday, says “the United States will not dream of enjoying safety until we live it in reality in Palestine.”

The tape continues: “It is not fair to enjoy that kind of life while our brothers in Gaza live in the worst of miseries.”

CNN could not independently confirm the authenticity of the message, but the CIA has in the past confirmed Al-Jazeera reports on tapes from the al Qaeda leader.

In another section of the audio tape that Al-Jazeera broadcast, the voice says: “God willing our attacks will continue as long as you support the Israelis and may peace be on those who follow guidance.”

Bin Laden also claims responsibility for the foiled attack on Delta flight 253 in December.

“The message intended to be sent to you was through the hero fighter Omar Farouq, may God release him, confirming an earlier message that the [September] 11th heroes delivered to you and it was repeated before and after [that event],” he says.

A Nigerian man, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, has been charged with attempting to blow up the Delta Airlines plane as it approached Detroit from Amsterdam, Netherlands.

A security expert said there’s a possibility bin Laden did not know about the attempted attack in December and al Qaeda branches may be using it to prove themselves to the group’s leadership.

“They were able to get their man on an American plane on an American soil so it is successful by all means,” said Mustafa Al-Ani at the Gulf Research Center. “The strategy is there, outlined by the mother leadership and now we will see the branches doing their best to please their leadership and implement al Qaeda vision in their own ways.”

Sunday’s message would be bin Laden’s first in seven months. In 2009, he had six messages. The last one, on September 25, was “to the European people.”

In that message, he urged the countries to reconsider their involvement in the Afghanistan war.

“Today Europe is suffering an economic crisis, and its export reputation doesn’t hold true anymore, while America is bleeding economically because of all the wars it is involved in,” his last message said. “Think about how Europe will fare when America pulls out of Afghanistan. You will be left to suffer alone the rage of the people you oppressed.”

Bin Laden is thought to be hiding in the Pakistan-Afghanistan mountain region, according to intelligence experts.

    century.

One of the most important achievements of the next 20 years will be artificial intelligence that will reach the human capacities. American computer guru Ray Kurzweil claims that the machines will rapidly become more intelligent than humans. What Is Forgiveness

Jan 20 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

While external circumstances may cause a temporary interruption of our
happiness, our reaction to the circumstances has far more control over
our happiness in the long run. We can’t control the actions of other
people. If we are honest in our assessment, we have to acknowledge that
people are often mean, rude, thoughtless, and self-absorbed.
Given that we have to live among these thoughtless and mean creatures,
it is a virtual certainty that we are going to be injured by their
actions at some point. (Just as certain that we, being of the same type
of self-absorbed creatures are going to injure others on occasion.) The
surest road to overcoming circumstance and moving back to our intended
state of happiness is through forgiveness.
In the chapters that follow, we will walk through some of the primary
obstacles to forgiveness, the major results of holding onto our grudges,
and the general process and many benefits of forgiveness.

    Facebook Helps Find Long-Lost Brother

Jan 05 2010 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

Facebook has proven that it can not only help its users keep in touch, but can also reconnect users with family members who were feared long lost. A woman in Palu, Central Sulawesi, recently found her older brother, who had been missing for more than three decades, on the social networking site.

Nurlianti Dehi told Metro TV on Tuesday that she cried when she spoke with her brother, Anton Dehi, on the phone for the first time in 35 years. Nurlianti said she last saw her brother in 1974 when Anton, who was in his early 20s, left Palu to find a job in Manado, North Sulawesi.

For the first two years, Anton maintained good contact with his family back home, but in the third year Nurlianti and her family did not receive any news from him. She spent years trying to find Anton but to no avail. She finally gave up looking for him but said she had never forgotten him.

Hopes of finding her brother were sparked again when she heard about the online social network Facebook. Nurlianti, who runs a travel agency in her hometown, signed up on the Web site and began her quest. She looked for any Facebook members whose last names were Dehi and she got in touch with a girl named Risna Dehi, who turned out to be Anton’s daughter and her niece.

From Risna, Nurlianti found out that Anton and his family lived in Jombang, East Java. Finally, after more than three decades apart, the two siblings reconnected over the telephone.

Nurlanti said that she at first had doubts that the man was really her brother, but she was convinced after they swapped childhood stories. In the near future, Nurlianti will visit the long-lost Anton in Jombang.

    Why men cheat on women

Nov 30 2009 Published by Did it! under Magazine Bits

Why men cheat on women is an age-old question. The reasons why men cheat on women can be varied. Nevertheless, we have compiled a list of the top 10 reasons why both married and unmarried men cheat.

Sometimes men’s reasons for cheating don’t even involve you and it’s simply an ego-based decision. Other times, reasons why men cheat can involve you and your relationship, or lack thereof.  So why do some men cheat in relationships? Almost all men know that cheating is wrong, yet many they still do it. Men will blame their reasons for cheating on their genes and their necessity to reproduce. However, aren’t we suppose to be further evolved than a chimp? Shouldn’t we be able to control our bodies through our minds and conscious decisions? Aparrently not always.

Here are the top 10 reasons why men cheat.

    1. Because they had the option. The old saying “men are only as faithful as their options” can sometimes ring true. Men don’t get offered sex as often as women so when the opportunity does arise, it can be very difficult for them to turn it down.

    2. It boosts their ego. Sometimes men don’t feel like they are attractive to the opposite sex any more and when a woman shows some interest, not only does a man react, he may allow her to stroke his ego and more. There’s nothing like the thrill of the chase to men on the hunt. When they are finally rewarded for their efforts, their egos swell even larger.

    3. You grow apart. Maybe the two of you didn’t have as much in common as you thought. He’s met a woman who has more in common with him who loves football or plays golf. He may check out if he is compatible with her under the sheets also.

    4. You argue a lot. Men will sometimes cheat to get away from an overly critical or argumentative partner. Who wants to be around someone who is constantly on them about something.

    5. They have fallen out of love. Sometimes men become so comfortable in a relationship, they don’t know how to get out. They may be staying in the relationship because of children or financial reasons. However, they feel like they are missing out on love and may seek it out elsewhere. In their mind, this is as close to win-win as they can get.

    6. Your sex life sucks. If a man has a disinterested partner or isn’t getting enough sex to fulfill him, there is a good chance he will have an affair. Just because you have a husband or boyfriend, does not mean you can stop trying. It takes a little bit of effort to keep your sex life from getting boring and non-existent. Some men cheat because they want to try new sexual things that their current partner will not try.
